Scottsdale Double Tree
May 18, 2009 Jazz
This was a great gig from a few weeks ago with Dave Henning on keys. It seems like I’ve been playing a ton of outdoor gigs over the last view months that were not fun weather wise. I guess everyone figures “it’s Phoenix, we have to have our function outside”. Most of the time by the third set my drum heads have tightened up so much do to the cold that I have to actually start tuning them down for fear of hurting them. Of corse I forget this come my next gig and freak out when my drum heads have zero tension.
This gig, however, was perfect. About 90 degress, and we were playing under an overhang so there wasn’t any direct sunlight beating down. Beautiful!
“Killer Joe” is another mombo. I feel like the feel is a little closer to an authentic mombo on this one (drum wise).
